How do you get paid?

When you sign up for a plan with me, the company pays my commission. The plan costs the same for you whether you go through me or directly to the company or some call center in Afghanistan. Are you licensed? 

 

Yes. I go through hours of training and education each year in order to continue selling Medicare insurance plans. This training allows me access to vital information that may help you when making your decision about which insurance plan to choose. 

 

What do you consider when looking at plans? 

 

There are many things to consider when choosing your Medicare insurance plan. What I look for in plans will vary based on your needs and medical and financial situations. What I commonly take into consideration is cost, benefits, doctor and hospital choice, prescription drug costs, travel benefits, and more. The cost of my plan just increased.  What should I do? 

 

Luckily, your relationship with your broker doesn’t end after the sale. I am a lifelong advocate. In addition to checking in with you annually to see if your coverage is still meeting your needs, I will help you switch plans when the cost increases. All you have to do is give me a call.

 

I am under 65, can I still enroll in Medicare?

 

You may be eligible for Medicare if you have received Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) checks for at least 24 months. You will automatically be enrolled in Medicare at the beginning of the 25th month. You can also enroll if you have been diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Keep in mind that the open enrollment period for Medicare begins three months prior to the month of your 65th birthday. Is there any information I should gather before our first meeting? 

 

To best help you in finding the perfect plan for you I will need to know about any current or past medical conditions. I will also need to know about the medications you currently take as well as the ones you may need later this year. Having a discussion with your physician can help you find out more information about medications you may need in the near future. Gathering this information before our first meeting will accelerate the process, so you can get back to focusing on what’s most important to you.

How often can my rates increase? 

 

Typically, an individual health plan may not raise premiums more than once every 12 months. Your rates may be increasing due to reaching a higher age bracket. As you age, you could move into a coverage group where the rates are higher.  As your broker, I can help you navigate other plans to find one that may be more cost-effective to you.

 

What are Medicare Advantage plans?

Private insurance companies that contract with Medicare offer Medicare Advantage plans. Medicare Advantage plans offer the same benefits as Part A and Part B, but many Medicare Advantage plans offer additional benefits for the same cost. Additional benefits that are commonly offered include vision care, dental services, hearing exams, and prescription drug coverage. A downside to Medicare Advantage plans is that you are often required to visit doctors, pharmacies, etc. within the plan’s network. Going outside of their network could result in fees. The good news is that by working with a Medicare insurance broker like William Myers, will allow you to make the choice that is best for you.  I will be transparent throughout the entire process. 

 

How often can I change my Medicare coverage? 

 

Most Medicare beneficiaries can change their coverage once a year. You may be able to change your coverage during the annual enrollment period from October 15th through December 7th. The enrollment period can pass by quickly which is why your insurance broker will contact you annually to see if your coverage is still meeting your needs.
